Dolcoath Mine, Camborne, Cornwall.
A large cast engineering bolt collected from the old workings of the Dolcoath Mine, Camborne.
Over the many years lying underground this mining artefact has slowly been replaced by precipitated native copper which also has some minor cuprite and a few attached pieces of stone, the copper itself is very well crystallised.
The head and shaft was somehow broken in two before the replacement took place, the two pieces are sealed together with copper and the detail is still easily visible, such as the square head of the bolt and the screw threads of the bolt shaft.
A very old and unusual specimen which was once part of Peter Golly's mineral collection.
