Hingston Down Quarry, Callington, Cornwall.

A large bright jet black detached crystal of cassiterite which was collected in the 1980s from the bottom bench of the quarry.

Large for the locality and without any damage apart from the base where the crystal was joined to the matrix. The pale area on the top of the crystal is just a group of very small arsenopyrite crystals.

Size 1.8 x 1.1 x 1 cm
